‘The Baby-Sitters Club’
‘The Baby-Sitters Club’ will premiere July 3 on Netflix. The new series, based on the best-selling book series by Ann M. Martin, follows the friendship and adventures of Kristy Thomas (Sophie Grace), Mary-Anne Spier (Malia Baker), Claudia Kishi (Momona Tamada), Stacey McGill (Shay Rudolph), and Dawn Schafer (Xochitl Gomez) as the middle-schoolers start their babysitting business in the town of Stoneybrook, Connecticut. Alicia Silverstone plays Elizabeth Thomas-Brewer, the selfless single-mother of Kristy Thomas and love interest of all-around good guy Watson Brewer, played by Mark Feuerstein. The books were published from 1986 to 2000. The books became massively popular in the ’90s. A TV series and a movie were adapted out of the books. The newest adaptation of the contemporary dramedy continues to champion friendship, female empowerment, and entrepreneurship. The series is led by Rachel Shukert as showrunner and Lucia Aniello as executive producer and director. See more photos in our gallery now.

Sophie Grace plays Kristy. She revealed she bonded with her own sister when she read Ann M. Martin’s books.
Shay Rudolph
Shay Rudolph plays Stacey. ‘Everybody involved in this show definitely made an effort to make the girls’ struggles and the characters, in general, feel more relatable for kids today that will be watching the show,’ she told HL.
Malia Baker
Malia Baker plays Mary-Anne. ‘Adding some more women of color into the series definitely makes it even more relatable,’ she told HL.
Momona Tamada
Momona Tamada plays Claudia. ‘I actually read the books growing up. I was introduced to them in elementary school, and I just fell in love with the books and just continue to read them,’ she said.
Alicia Silverstone
Alicia Silverstone plays Elizabeth Thomas-Brewer. Elizabeth is the mother of Kristy Thomas.
