Nicole Maines is known by many fans as ‘Dreamer’, TV’s first transgender superhero on the CW hit series, Supergirl. The GLAAD Award nominated actress joined the series in season 4 as Dreamer who is known as Nia Nal in her everyday life. She’s an original character created just for Supergirl, and is the ancestor of DC Comics-based Nura Nal/Dream Girl. Season 6 is the final season of the popular hit series which premiered March 30, 2021.
Nicole is a transgender rights activist and in 2013, she made history when she fought and won the Supreme Court case, Doe v. Clenchy, which allowed her the right to use the female bathroom at her high school. It was ruled that denying her the use of the girls’ restroom at her school violated her human rights. It ultimately allowed all transgender children to use the school bathroom designated for the gender with which they identify.
