Shailene is not so into bringing the final installment of 'Divergent' to TV -- and by not so into, I mean she's probably not going to do it. In a new interview, the actress revealed that she's really not a fan of the final film, 'Ascendant' heading to TV.
“Last I heard they were trying to make it into a television show,” Shailene Woodley told ScreenRant while doing recent press for Snowden. “I didn’t sign up to be in a television show. Out of respect to the studio and everyone in involved, they may have changed their mind and may be doing something different, but I’m not necessarily interested in doing a television show.”
Of course, she’s referring to the news that Lionsgate decided to go in a TV movie wrap up for the fourth film, rather that a theater release, followed by a possible spinoff series, our sister site Variety first reported. Originally, the film was set for a June 2017 release, but after the box office numbers for the third film, Allegiant, were less than stellar ($66 million domestically), they pulled the plug.

The contract that Shailene, and her costars Theo James, Miles Tellar and Zoe Kravitz are under, are still unknown. However, Miles had previously spoken out about the change as well.
“It caught us all by surprise,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “At this point, it’s a different set of circumstances … We’ll see. I honestly haven’t talked to anybody. Things do change anytime they’re messing with something that was not the original intention. We all signed on for it in hopes that it’d be released in theaters, and we all had every intention of finishing [the franchise].”
So, right now it’s unclear if any of the film’s original stars will be into the change. Shailene has done TV before, starring as the lead in The Secret Life of the American Teenager on ABCFamily, and has signed on for HBO’s upcoming adaptation of Big Little Lies.
