Lady Gaga was first reported to be “in talks” to take on the role of Harley Quinn in the Joker sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux, in June 2022. By Aug. 2022, the film’s director, Todd Phillips, confirmed the news via Instagram. Fans were excited to see the “Born This Way” songstress take on the role, previously portrayed by Margot Robbie in Suicide Squad, which she herself has even said she is “excited” for.
Of course, Joaquin Phoenix will reprise his role as the Joker in the 2024 movie. Interestingly, Bradley Cooper, who directed A Star Is Born and starred in the film alongside Gaga is one of the producers of Joker 2. Since the movie began filming in New York City in early 2023, Little Monsters have been raving about the Grammy-winner’s Harley costumes on social media.
This is not the blonde beauty’s first major motion picture, as she starred in A Star Is Born, as previously mentioned, in 2018. And in 2021, she starred in the House of Gucci biopic alongside Adam Driver. Gaga also won a Golden Globe award for her role as The Countess in the fifth season of American Horror Story.
