Joaquin Phoenix is an American actor and producer. He is most recently known for portraying “Arthur Fleck” in the 2019 film, ‘Joker.’
Before landing the iconic role of “Joker,” he has played many other roles in TV and film. These roles include playing “Jesus” in ‘Mary Magdalene’ (2018), playing “Commodus” in ‘Gladiator’ (2000), and voicing “Kenai” in ‘Brother Bear’ (2003).
Of course, his acting on the big screen has received much recognition and numerous awards, such as an Academy Award, a Grammy Award, and two Golden Globe Awards.
While he may play one of the most evil villains in film history, he is quite the good Samaritan in real life. He is on the board of directors for The Lunchbox Fund, which is a non-profit organization that provides daily meals to school students in South Africa.
He has also advocated for animal rights and often campaigns with PETA and In Defense of Animals.
