Photos Of Late ‘Easy Rider’ Actor – Hollywood Life

Peter Fonda as seen in the 1969 counter culter biker film ‘Easy Rider.’ He was the son of legendary actor Henry Fonda and the younger brother of actress Jane Fonda. Peter was also the father of actress Bridget Fonda. While born in New York City, he moved to his dad’s hometown of Omaha, Nebraska to attend the University of Nebrask and perform at his dad’s first stomping grounds of the Omaha Community Playhouse. He eventually shunned leading man roles in the mid 1960’s and went with the counter culture movement, growing his hair long, taking the hallucenogenic drug LSD and hanging out with members of the band The Byrds and The Beatles. He starred in counter culture films in the late 1960’s by director Roger Corman but had his big breakthrough when he produced, co-wrote and starred in the iconic 1969 biker film Easy Rider. He played Captain America in the movie that co-starred pals Jack Nicholson and Dennis Hopper. He would later be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Peter continued his acting career for decades to follow until he passed away due to complications from lung cancer on Aug. 16, 2019.
