‘Santa Clarita Diet’ is a Netflix original series that debuted in Feb. 2017 and stars Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant in its main roles. Drew and Timothy play married couple, Shelia and Joel, who are living in Santa Clarita, CA with their teenage daughter. Everything seems normal with their life until Shelia starts craving human flesh. She soon realizes she has a zombie-like disease that makes her want and need fresh flesh to be vibrant and stay alive, leading her on a path of destruction that involves killing humans for their flesh. Once Timothy’s character, Joel, is in on his wife’s issue, he takes part in helping her stay alive by helping her search for the flesh and covering the tracks so she doesn’t get caught by authorities. They also search for a cure with the help of their daughter’s teen friend.
The show lasted for three seasons before Netflix announced its cancellation on Apr. 26, 2019. It didn’t take long for fans of the show to take to Twitter to express their disappointment with the decision and even start a petition to save the show.
