It turns out that when Patrick decided to put Spring Break before his early 2015 whirlwind romance with Miley, he sent her spiraling right back into her ex-fiance’s arms.
“In a way Patrick is the one she can thank for pushing them together,” a source close to Miley shared EXCLUSIVELY with HollywoodLife.com. “When he cheated on her Liam stepped up to the plate to help her get through it. His support helped her cope with the way Patrick humiliated her and since then things have been inching along between them.” Wow, who knew being cheated on could end up being a good thing?

The source continued, “Miley would have been happy to jump right back in full time with Liam right then and there, but she knew she had to be patient and let him be the one to lead the way.”
Obviously being patient was worth the wait for Miley, who ended up spending New Year’s Eve 2016 not only with Liam, but with all of his friends and family in Australia.
