Actor Tobey Maguire, 41, and jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer, 39, are splitting, but revealed in a joint statement about their separation that they will be keeping things civil for the sake of their two children: daughter Ruby, 9, and son Otis, 7. There is no word yet on any divorce proceedings.
“After much soul searching and consideration we have made the decision to separate as a couple,” Tobey and Jennifer said in a joint statement to People magazine. “As devoted parents, our first priority remains raising our children together with enduring love, respect and friendship.”

Tobey and Jennifer met in early 2003. They got married four years later in a small ceremony in Kona, Hawaii, in front of family and friends, like Tobey’s best friend, Leonardo DiCaprio. Their wedding came just nine months after their little girl, Ruby, was born! Tobey and Jennifer kept their relationship pretty low-profile. But then again, Tobey hasn’t been one to live in the spotlight. He’s an incredibly famous actor, but he’s spoken out before about how important being a father is.
It’s a relief to read that Tobey and Jennifer seem to be making the decision to separate so amicably. There have been so many high-profile, disastrous celebrity divorces lately! Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie‘s divorce proceedings are still ongoing, and the situation changes day by day. They have six children who are in the middle of their messy split!
