Minnesota Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar has served in the Senate since 2007. A Minnesota-native with degrees from Yale University and the University of Chicago Law School, she’s held public office since the late 1990s. Her first campaign was for Hennepin County attorney in 1994, but she suspended her campaign when the incumbent candidate re-entered the race. She later won the public office in 1998. She first ran for Senate in 2006 and won. In February 2019, she announced that she’d run for president against then-incumbent Donald Trump. Despite receiving an endorsement from The New York Times editorial board in January 2020, Klobuchar dropped out the race in March before Super Tuesday. She endorsed Joe Biden, who was later elected president in November. It was reported that Klobuchar was in the running to be Biden’s vice presidential candidate, but the Minnesota senator withdrew, and called on Biden to choose a woman of color.
