Get ready for the next big name in Tennis: Amanda Anisimova! The young American, born to Russian emigrants who moved to New Jersey, rose to prominence in the 2018 Indian Wells Open by recording her first top 10 victory. She was just 16 years old. In 2019, she shocked the world by upsetting former world no. 1 Simona Halep in the quarterfinals. She also became the first player – male or female – born after 2000 to real the Grand Slam semi-final. Throw in the titles she racked up while as a junior – the ITF Junior ranking listed her at No. 2 in 2016, and she won her first Grade A ranked tournament, the Abierto Juvenil Mexicano, when she was just 14 – and its clear why this young phenom has a bright future ahead of her.
