Jockey falls off his horse at the Preakness Stakes.
John Velazquez tumbles to the turf after falling off Bodexpress at the starting gate during the 144th Preakness Stakes horse race at Pimlico race course, in Baltimore, MD on May 18, 2019. The Hall of Fame jockey wasn’t injured and blamed himself for the blunder. The horse went on to stay with the pack through most of the race before trailing at the end. It was a remarkable sight to see a riderless horse competing in a Triple Crown race and many on social media were rooting for Bodexress to win given the pony didn’t have a rider to guide him. In the end it was War of Will that took home the 2019 Preakness and won the wreath of golden flowers. After this the final race of of horse racing’s Triple Crown will go down at the Belmont Stakes in New York on June 8 and hopefully things will be a little less crazy.
