2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup
Gooooooooooaaaaaal! The biggest sporting event of the summer of 2019 is the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Taking place at numerous sites across the lovely landscape of France, this month-long tournament will see the best female soccer players go head-to-head, all for a chance to raise the World Cup trophy. The reigning champs going into this year’s event are the United States, and after a disastrous exit from the 2016 Olympics, they look to remind the rest of the world why they’re considered the best squad on the planet. Standing in their way are their long-time rivals, France, who ended the USNWNT’s 28-game winning streak at the start of 2019. Will France – who won the men’s world cup in 2018 – block the Americans from going back-to-back? Will Germany, England or Japan (who defeated the Americans in 2011) rise to the challenge and take the cup away from the USA or France? Whoever takes the cup, the real winners will be the fans, as it will be an exciting summer of football/soccer action!
